At the Siege of Acre, King Richard faced capture by Saracen forces—until Sir John rode in, lance raised, shouting:<br data-end="2179" data-start="2176"/><strong data-end="2223" data-start="2179">“To the rescue! A Forester! A Forester!”</strong></p> <p class="" data-end="2419" data-start="2225">His bravery saved the king, earning him the honor of knighthood, a Chevron Vert on his shield, and appointment as Governor of Bamborough Castle. His legacy remains enshrined in Bamborough Abbey.</p> <h4 class="" data-end="2449" data-start="2421"><strong data-end="2449" data-start="2426">The Burnett Lineage</strong></h4> <p class="" data-end="2833" data-start="2451">Alexander Burnard, later known as Burnett, stood with Robert the Bruce during Scotland’s fight for independence. For his loyalty, he was granted lands in Banchory in 1323 and appointed <strong data-end="2662" data-start="2636">Royal Forester of Drum</strong>.
