At the Siege of Acre, King Richard faced capture by Saracen forces—until Sir John rode in, lance raised, shouting:<br data-start="2176" data-end="2179"><strong data-start="2179" data-end="2223">“To the rescue! A Forester! A Forester!”</strong></p> <p data-start="2225" data-end="2419" class="">His bravery saved the king, earning him the honor of knighthood, a Chevron Vert on his shield, and appointment as Governor of Bamborough Castle. His legacy remains enshrined in Bamborough Abbey.</p> <h4 data-start="2421" data-end="2449" class=""><strong data-start="2426" data-end="2449">The Burnett Lineage</strong></h4> <p data-start="2451" data-end="2833" class="">Alexander Burnard, later known as Burnett, stood with Robert the Bruce during Scotland’s fight for independence. For his loyalty, he was granted lands in Banchory in 1323 and appointed <strong data-start="2636" data-end="2662">Royal Forester of Drum</strong>.
