Their father and grandfather cultivated coffee in Armenia, Colombia. Carlos remembers riding through their coffee fields with his grandfather. They would sample cherry from different varieties as their rode across the farm. Producers receive technical and financial assistance from CAFICAUCA. In addition to coffee, producers also cultivate beans, maize and plantains.

Felipe and Carlos purchased Jardines del Eden recently. In addition to the Castillo in this blend, they have planted a range of some of the most exotic and highly-sought-after varieties in the coffee world including Gesha, Sidra and Pink Bourbon. They hope to begin harvesting those new trees in 2021.

They also cultivate banana, plantain and mandarin oranges on the farm. From their roots in 1961 with 297 coffee growers, the Cooperativa de Caficultores del Cauca (CAFICAUCA) has remained focused on economic empowerment for their members. Now, their more than 2,700 members, benefit from their value addition roasting business that captures a larger portion of a coffee’s final value and shares that extra income with producer-members.

Cherry is selectively handpicked and then laid in thin layers on patios to sundry for approximately 15 to 20 days. When the weather is unsuitable for sun drying, a mechanical dryer may be used to finish off the drying process.

*all coffee delivered as whole bean unless specified*

*please comment with grind type if you would like your coffee ground*
