Grown in Cajamarca’s San Ignacio and Jaén, it offers a rich expression of the region’s biodiversity and community-first ethos.

We paid 125% above the Fair Trade price for this coffee - learn why here.

Cradled by the towering Andes, Cajamarca’s fertile slopes are home to some of Peru’s finest coffees. Here, in the municipalities of San Ignacio and Jaén, smallholder farmers nurture their crops at elevations between 1500 and 1900 MASL where cool nights and warm days help develop complex, sugar-rich cherries.

This lot comes from just four members of the 40-strong La Danta group: Benico Lopez Bentancur, Edid Ramos Romero, Wilder Anthony Vasquez Estela, and Nehemias Estela Chilcon. Each manages an average of just two hectares, relying on deep generational knowledge, meticulous hand-picking, and careful fermentation to craft coffees of rare clarity and elegance.

With this coffee named after the Andean tapir (“sacha huagra” in Quechua), La Danta represents a more conscious coffee culture: one grounded in sustainability, stewardship, and symbiosis with nature. Supported by Caravela and their PECA education program, these producers use on-farm organic compost, native shade trees, and long, waterless fermentations to reduce environmental impact while elevating cup quality.

Fully washed and dried slowly under the sun, this lot sings with silky milk chocolate and dark plum, finishing with the gentle sweetness of raisin. It’s a testament to the new wave of Peruvian coffee and the generations of wisdom guiding it forward.

Rumble is proud to showcase this beautiful coffee for the first time. With its vibrant flavours and inspiring story, we’re certain it won’t be the last.
