This lot is produced at the Kegwa Factory by the Ngiriambu Farmers Cooperative Society. They can be found sprawled around the foothills of Mount Kenya, growing coffee in their small family plots as they have done for generations. 1500 members combine their resources and share the burden of running the mill. The producers carefully monitor the slowly ripening cherries and pick them early in the morning before delivering them to the wet mill. They're then picked clean of anything other than perfectly ripe cherries, before being pulped and floated down into the fermentation tanks, all the while skimming off unwanted floaters. Once the coffee is no longer sticky with mucilage it's floated again down the channel with fresh water, removing anything unwanted as it flows. The remaining coffee is of the highest quality and will dry in the sun on raised beds until reaching its perfect moisture level. Kenyan processing is regarded very highly all around the world and often a benchmark of how to produce washed coffee. Expect delicious notes of tangerine, red grape and sparkling rosé. Cheers to our mates at First Crop Coffee for importing this ripper.

DEEP DIVE +

PRODUCER : Ngiriambu FCS

CROP YEAR : 2022

COUNTRY : KENYA

REGION : KIRINYAGA

ELEVATION : 1800 MASL

VARIETAL : SL34 & SL28

PROCESSING : WASHED

IMPORTER/PARTNER : First Crop Coffee

GEO TAG DOWNLOAD PDF

ESPRESSO RECIPE +

ESPRESSO MACHINE
This is just a starting place.
