Unlike the coffees rolled out every International Women’s day designed, roasted and brewed by the cafe’s token women—‘Heroine Experience’ represents more than just the mansplaining of roasting, the ‘big strong man’ that does my heavy lifting, and the weight of making the coffee industry appear more diverse resting on my shoulders. Instead, Heroine Experience should be enjoyed whilst watching Gossip Girl or reading Sylvia Plath, while reminiscing the era of Kiki and all the female roasters who came before her. An homage to unpaid labour and domestic duties, you’d think this blend would have you feeling like you’ve received 13.8% less coffee—but instead you’ll be 110% fulfilled by how great I am at roasting it.
